Our History

For over 15 years GMECN has strived to give a voice to our Ethnic and Global Majority Communities. What started as a grass roots community network, has grown into a large network of organisations supporting and nurturing Ethnic and Global Majority Communities across Greater Manchester and beyond.

About Us 

GMECN is a membership organisation supporting Ethnic/Global Majority Communities organisations in Greater Manchester. As an organisation, we are built and led by Ethnic/Global Majority Community members with decades of experience supportive leadership within our communities.  

We are growing organisation with big ambitions to help enable our communities to thrive. We aim to enable our members to better support their communities through capacity development, networking, funding opportunities, skill sharing and collaboration.  

We do this through a network of support and collaboration.  

  • Host Quarterly Network Events to connect member organisations, and connect with local, regional and national stakeholders as well as provide space for learning sharing and meeting.  
  • Organise “Meet the funder events” and source funding opportunities for members 
  • Capacity building and development workshops and tasters e.g. Digital skills building 
  • Providing relevant information and news to members  
  • Consultation and engagement sessions with external organisations, statutory bodies and others to influence policy and services.  
  • Amplify, Advocate and Advance the voice of our members and the Global Majority Community  


Working with us, will give you an opportunity to develop your skills, networks and knowledge across the sector. Importantly, you will be a part of the push for social justice and empowerment for our communities in Greater Manchester.

What is the timeline for this role from applying to starting?  

  • Sunday 18th January - Applications close at Midnight. 
  • Monday 19th - Friday 23rd January - inform you of outcome, if successful arrange an interview date, if unsuccessful we will provide you with some feedback. 
  • Thursday 5th & Friday 6th February - Interviews will take place at St Thomas Centre Ardwick 
  • March 2026 - likely start date


Is the salary negotiable?

Salary is fixed as stated.

We believe in flexible working. You will be expected in office,  in a hub location across Greater Manchester, with flexibility to work from home or remotely where appropriate.
