Global Majority Communities led organizations face many challenges. The way to tackle these is to collaborate in order to strengthen our communities and enhance our resources.
If you share this vision, express your interest in becoming a funded GMECN Partner and take the lead in driving change within the Greater Manchester Ethnic Community Network.
GMECN is developing a partnership programme aimed at providing local level infrastructure support for Global Majority Communities throughout Greater Manchester.
The term Global Majority, as defined by Comic Relief, refers to individuals from Black, Asian, Indigenous, Mixed-heritage, and other non-white backgrounds, who collectively represent approximately 85% of the world's population. This initiative is supported by the Global Majority Fund.
We are seeking to collaborate with Global Majority Led Community Organisations (CIC or Charity) to host and deliver a Greater Manchester Ethnic Community Network and Hub in the following boroughs:
- Bolton
- Bury
- Oldham
- Salford
- Tameside
- Trafford
- Wigan
Each successful GMECN Partner will receive a grant for 12 months, with amounts determined by local ethnic demographics, ranging from £10k to £30k.
We have previously supported existing Global Majority lead networks in:
- Manchester - Manchester BME Network (MBMEN)
- Rochdale - Rochdale ECN hosted by Kashmir Youth Project (KYP)
- Stockport - Stockport Race Equality Partnership (SREP)
